Grief is the total social, physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual and financial adjustment brought about by the loss, or anticipated loss, of a significant person or object. The intensity or difficulty of that adjustment, which is sometimes referred to as "grief work" or "mourning," will depend upon the nature or depth of the lost relationship.
Grief can seem overwhelming and frightening. The intensity of feelings and some physical, emotional or behavioral symptoms may frequently occur, causing people to wonder if their way of experiencing grief is normal.
Counseling can make a difference.
